Interview with Heather Hendrix

Hello Everyone!

We are delighted to have author Heather Hendrix amongst us today at Musikdiv India Online Magazine at our Special ‘Authors Festival’ interview series to tell us about her new book Revealed!
Please read on …

Lilith Bell is a half-blooded fallen angel who is searching for her twin brother, and is running from a human agency in high pursuit to study and destroy her. She flees Tivoli, Italy for New London, Connecticut. What she finds is Bellcourts, an eerie school that in her opinion imprisons the emotionless immortals attending. And meeting Vincent Silas, a charming vampire was certainly not part of her plan. Little does she know his secret dark than hers. There’re others out there…waiting. For years, they’ve sat in silence hoping Lilith would find the clues that lead her to them. When you’re immortal all you have is time. But with danger lurking around every corner, Lilith finds her time may be running out.

So Heather, we’ll start your Interview with the very first question

1. Please introduce and tell the readers something about yourself.

Sure. Hi. I’m Heather, a struggling author, artist, runner, coffee connoisseur, and twitter junkie. I’m also completely weirded out by bios. I guess you can say it’s an underlying phobia, like speaking in public, or running out of gas in the middle of nowhere. *shudders*

2. What brought you to writing?

I have always been inspired by the people around me. I grew up in a non-traditional household with three brothers and two sisters, (me being the oldest.) We were lucky enough to have two very open-minded parents that encouraged us to us our ingenuities (think syfy meets UFC.) So, it was with a sense of humor and wit passed down from my parents to me, I began to write.

3. How long have you been writing?

For as long back as I can remember, I have always written stories.

4. Which was your first literary project? Tell us something about it.

My first literary project was a piece I wrote for a magazine contest in High School. My teacher entered it for me. I didn’t win. However, this small event made me want to peruse writing sometime in the future. The piece was about a young girl stuck in a pocket watch. She had to find the right times and solve riddles to make it back to reality.

5. Is this your new/latest project?

Nope, I am currently working on book #2 in the Eternal Secrets Trilogy, and another book called The Willow’s Moon. Not sure if it will be a stand-alone or a series.

6. Traditional books or e-books? How do you prefer to see your works published? Have you tried ever publishing the traditional way?

I don’t have a preference really. To me a book is a book no matter how it’s published. I have never gone the traditional route. I might in the future.

7. Can you give a chapter sample preview of your book here for our readers to know more about it?

( Please look at the bottom of the interview for book excerpts )

8. What are your hobbies? Things that you enjoy doing besides books of course.

I love spending time with my husband and son, painting, drawing, running, drinking coffee, and listening to music. I am a huge fan of rock, and oldies. In the afternoons you can find me sipping coffee listing to Otis Redding, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay,” or cleaning to Linkin Park.

9. Who is your favorite author?

That’s a hard one. There are so many books I cherish, and find the author’s influential. Kathryn Stockettis one, J.K. Rowling, R.L Stine. Goosebumps books were my childhood.

10. What is your favorite genre to read and also to write?

I read far and wide. There are no limits to what I read as long as it draws me in. I write paranormal thrillers with a touch of romance. I love a good love story.

11. Do you have a role model that you get inspiration from?

I find inspiration in all the people and things around me.

12. Where do get your ideas from? Do you take your story ideas from real life situations?

I don’t use reality for my stories. However, I can’t say outside forces have never been factored in. The things that surround me do affect my moods and that in return changes my writing patterns. Then other times, my ideas are completely random. I always keep a notebook close.

13. Do you have a pseudonym?

Nope, I like to use my own name.

14. What’s your experience been like in the publishing industry? Positive or negative? Please share your experience with our readers.

It’s been positive. I have perseverance. I work really hard to keep it that way.

15. Where do you see yourself 10years from now?

Hopefully still writing books that people will like to read.

16. What motivates you to write?

A cup of coffee, and my favorite music.

17. How important is good cover art for your books?

Very important, I think a book cover can be a difference in whether or not someone picks your book over someone else’s. How many times have you picked up a book just because of the cover? I do it all the time.

18. Do you have a price strategy for your books?

Not really, this is my first published book. I didn’t want to scare readers away with a large price.

19. How do you feel if you read a bestseller which you feel isw not as good as yours?

They must market really well.

20. Why do you think readers should buy your book? What can you offer them through your book?

I think my book will appeal to readers that like paranormal thrillers. Readers will be pulled into another world of full of immortal characters, romance, and deadly secrets.

21. Where is your book available? Any Buy Link for our readers?

22. Do you have a website or a blog that you’d like to share here.

23. What advice would you give to other writers?

Stay positive, market your book, but don’t spam people. Keep writing, researching, and learning.

24. Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

Thanks for reading.

    Revealed By Heather Hendrix

    Dear A,
We are doing great. I thinkthis is it. We can finally stop running. They haven’t found us in over twomonths.
    Love Me
    No reply.

Waiting…an hour later still no reply. I drum my fingers across the keys once more before signing off. The room is dark expect for the monitor. Not that it’s much to look at with the lights on, nothing but a desk, computer, and spare bed. I wander down the hall to the sound of a familiar voice on the phone. Not the owners house, but their son. The door is opened just enough for me to see him standing by the fire. I almost walk in when I hear these words.
“No…she has no clue. I understand the protocol and I will bring her to you tomorrow. Just don’t kill her. The boss says he needs this one alive. The last one didn’t make it.”
I force the air into my lungs, and move silently forward to his room. My hand reaches for the lamp before I even realize what’s happening. I hear his footsteps moving slowly and precisely. I’m standing beside the door when his last footstep lands in front of me. The lamp barrels down on his temple, and he crashes to the floor. I run.
For years, we have gone undiscovered. But an alliance has been forming among a small unit of humans. They call themselves, The Immortal Resistance Provision. One by one, we are picked off, studied in their laborites, made spectacle freak shows. I think we were betrayed by one of our own.
