So Kimberly, we’ll start your Interview with the very first question

1. Please introduce and tell the readers something about yourself.

My name is Kimberly Grell, and I write free verse poetry. I have a great passion for writing. Writing has always been that thing that I could rely on to get whatever emotion out and onto paper. Through my writing and through the years, I have grown and have come to know myself on an intellectual level. Ever since I was young, writing has been the one thing that helped me to see myself in a whole new way.

2. What brought you to writing?

I can’t say what brought me to writing, I just always knew I had it in me to write.

3. How many books have you written?

So far 2 books have been written and 4 more are on the way.

4. How long have you been writing?

Ever since I was a child and knew how to put sentences together, I have been writing. When I was in school, I won awards, medals and trophies for my writing in contests.

5. Which was your first literary project?Tell us something about it.

My first project was Short Stories For The Soul. That book took me about a year and a half to put together. It basically sums up all emotions I person can have, but also allow them to see thing differently if they have the imagination. In short, taking negatives and turning them into positives.

6. Is this your new/latest project? What inspired you to write your (latest) book?

What has inspired me to write my series Celebrate Life With The Simple Things: A Poetry Collection I, was how the little things are overlooked and taken for granted. In today’s society, we are more focused on how the bigger, more grander things, while the simple things are ignored. It inspired me to write a book about it in hopes that people will see these simple things in a unique way.

7. Traditional books or e-books? How do you prefer to see your works published? Have you tried ever publishing the traditional way?

For now, I have to say e-book. The area I live in lacks in book agencies for traditional publishing. I hope to some day have my books published traditionally though.

8. Can you give a chapter sample preview of your book here for our readers to know more about it.

( Please look at the bottom of the interview for book excerpts )

9. Do you have any funny / interesting incidents on how you came up with plots or characters?

Some say it’s strange, but to me, I look at it as a gift. My inspiration comes from my five human senses. It’s whatever sense is heightened at the moment, then my mind begins to create a meaning/reason behind the object, word, sound, or taste, etc.

10. What are your hobbies?Things that you enjoy doing besides books of course.

My other hobby is photography. I do this to gather my thoughts and some inspiration as well.

11. Who is your favourite author?

I don’t have a particular author in mind to be my favorite, but all the poetry authors in general inspire me to create pieces of literature that are sure to stimulate the mind and help it to grow on an intellectual level.

12. Is your writing style at all influenced by those of your favorite authors?

Not really. My writing style is all my own. It’s what makes me unique.

13. What is your favourite genre to read and also to write?

I like a good Fantasy and SiFi book to read. My poems do contain little bits of Fantasy and SiFi in them.

14. Do you have a role model that you get inspiration from?

I think the everyday person is my role model. The way they carry themselves through the hardships and how much they can endure before reaching a breaking point is what I admire the most and can gather inspiration from.

15. Where do get your ideas from?Do you take your story ideas from real life situations?

I get my ideas at random times. It really depends on what human sense is heightened. Yes, my ideas are of real life situations, but from another perspective.

16. Do you have a pseudonym?

No, I write under my own name. I am not ashamed of my name, so why should I hide it from the world.

17.Whats your experience been like in the publishing industry?Positive or negative? Please share your experience with our readers.

Everything has been going in a positive direction. It is slow to start, but once enough people know about me and my books, it becomes word of mouth from then on. Only then, will things begin to pick up.

18. Where do you see yourself 10years from now?

I see myself with a family and living life with the simple things to the fullest.

19. What motivates you to write?

My motivation is not the money part of selling my books, but knowing that there are people out there that are happy with my work and want more from me. The money aspect of it is only a bonus. But knowing that my work is out there and published is good enough for me.

20. How important is good cover art for your books?

Very important. It is what gets the readers attention. If the cover is plain or confusing, then the reader tends to shy away from it. If you have a colorful cover that ties in with the theme to your book and has an appeal to it, your readers’ interest will be piqued.

21. Do you have a price strategy for your books?

I try to price all my books at a decent affordable price. I don’t go over $2.99 for my books, unless there is a lot of content in the book, even then, I won’t go over $5.00 for a book with a lot of content.

22. How does it make you feel when you read a bestselling book that you don’t feel is as good as yours?

It does not phase me. I try not to see the bad in everyone’s work, or pick apart other people’s work either. I know they worked just as hard as I when it comes to writing.

23.Why do you think readers should buy your book? What can you offer them through your book?

Readers should buy my books because of the deep level of the thought process. I make sure to write in ways that it is not overly complicated, but also stimulates the imagination in my readers. My books are very inspiring, motivational, and mentally stimulating.

24.Where is your book available?Any Buy Link for our readers?

My books are available only in the Kindle Shop on Amazon.
Amazon Kindle >>

25.Do you have a website or a blog that you’d like to share here.

I have a Facebook page that people can like.

26. What advice would you give to other writers?

Keep your head held high and never give up. If you know you have what it takes, then don’t let anyone tell you different.

Celebrate Life With The Simple Things: A Poetry Collection I By Kimberly Grell

    Through The Eyes

I lay unnoticed on the dry ground. I lay unnoticed with my bretheren as we watch the world go by. I hear footsteps of all magnitudes crashing on the ground. I hear laughter and children playing. I hear the gentle click of cameras as they take the portraits of our withered beings. Our dried up phase only welcomes the passerby’s to explore us and the sounds we make. I know all too well the dreadful noise of loss. I hear the crunching footsteps come closer to my vicinity in which I vacate. I now know what is to become of me.

I gaze upon the sky once more and admire the scenery that looks down on me. I feel the ground become uneven and prepare myself for the end. The area around me becomes dark and all I can see is the underside of a durable covering with harsh ridges. I feel it come closer and lay on top of me, giving off that horrid noise of loss. I am now a broken leaf, waiting for my pieces to decompose and fade away.
